I now live within 3 blocks of the Albuquerque city zoo, or rather officially called The Rio Grande Zoo and a part of the collective organization known as The Albq. Biological Park. The Rio Grande River being the life-blood river of the Southwest and especially Nuevo
Mexico, the 47th state of the grand ole' U.S. Yes my dear readers, don't go listening to the clueless who will insist that in order to visit the Land of Manana one must have a passport or that one mustn't drink the water here. Now, if you'd inquired about the water back in the early to mid 90's then I'd of said, "oh sure drink the water but it tastes like crap!" I can now honestly say that the water quality has greatly improved.
One morning, about a 5 weeks or so ago I was awoken around 5 am to what I thought was an odd feline screech. I remember panicking at first, wondering w
here my own furry beast was and then my feet oh so ungracefully kicked the poor critter and an indignant "Hey what the bloody hell are ya waking me up for!" yowl quickly filled the bedroom.
I keep telling her that if she'd only sleep at the end of the bed on the far right side, instead of on the left outer side of the bed then the chances of her and my foot meeting would greatly reduce. But alas Curio doesn't listen to anyone, least of all me her human slave.
So I laid there quietly wondering what could of made such a painful sound that managed to awaken me from my snoring...and I waited and then it came again. "ohhh geez louise, it's a peacock!" I groaned. "You idiot, you live by the zoo!"
Flash forward to 2 weeks ago and it's well past the haunting hour but not time to be awoken for work or any other reason for that matter. Something is stirring 3 blocks down the road and it ain't the peacocks. Lions and tigers...which I couldn't tell ya cause well...I'm embarassed to say I'm truly not certain how a lion sounds from a tiger. *shrug* Either one, of the big cats was letting us all know that something was amiss. Soon I heard others from the animal kingdom.
And it's been this way, pretty much the same ole' critters night after night moring into morning. Until this morning around 7:30. Laying in bed with the black fur ball curled up in my face when I hear..."AAARRFF" "AARRFF" "AARRRF" *lol* Sea Lions. I'm hearing the the freakin' sea lions!! I just cracked-up giggling while Curio ignored me. ...hehehehe....what can I say, I get amused by the simplest things!
