Ok, I'm officially declaring that the month of February ought to be erased from the history books. It never happened, never occurred. Nothing to see here folks, move on.
I'm going to try and write about the good and the bad, interweaving instead of talking all about the crap and then about the good.
First off some crap. Work has been shitty shitty shitty this week. It's apparently been "Piss on Your Customer Service Person" week. And it's not just my imagination! We all had our share of customers yelling at us today, telling us we didn't know what we were doing, getting upset cause I can't take their goddamn $100 bill, etc. etc. Two co-workers were no shows this week, starting with Sunday. One was a complete surprise as he has never pulled that. So hopefully he's ok. Then Penny finally got x-rays on her foot and turns out she broke it and so she's been out of work for the past two days. I feel so bad for her cause, like me, she's struggling to make ends meet and can't afford this shit.
Josh's boyfriend dumped him on Sunday and Penny's boyfriend stood her up last Friday. WTF is going on there? When he came in late yesterday at work, I asked him how he was doing and damn I didn't need an answer for the way he looked at me. I just went over to him and hugged him. I wanted to cry with him and tell him everything would be ok, that life wouldn't hurt so badly some day.
So time for some good news.
I've got a job interview on Thursday with a local photographer, Kevin's Photography. So tomorrow I'm gonna get some more images printed up for my physical portfolio.
This past weekend I shot Tathata at a live show and got some cool shots....mostly of the crowd though. Which is fine with me, I mean, when I go to live shows I'm not interested only in the band. I like to see what is going on with the crowd, behind the stage, etc. There was a little girl there, Rhiannon, I think she's 3-years old. She was just such an intense little kid yet she'd then turn around and be a completely normal kid. I got some really neat shots of her standing amongst the adults who were dancing all around her. I also did some exploratory type shots, zooming the telephoto lens during exposure to try to get that tunnel-type effect. Got a few ok shots but am going to work on developing this effect cause I think it'd be great imagery for live band shots.
There was a gal there dancing; belly dancing and hula-hoop moves. She was very good and so I snapped off a few frames of her doing her thing. She approached me a short time later, saying she needed someone to take some good pictures of her dancing. I gave her a biz card and explained the website situation. Well, later in the evening as I was saying my goodbye's a woman named Rebecca approached me, "I hear you need a website?" I guess the hula-hoop gal had mentioned to her about my website situation and my desire to do a trade with someone to help me get it up and running.
Rebecca told me about her web-building experience and said she'd be very interested in a trade. So I gave her a biz card as well and hopefully she'll get in touch with me. I think I've handed out more business cards in the past two months than I have since I got the things made more than two years ago!! I would so love to have that site up and running by this summer.
Alright back to the dump-on-me feelings. Qwest disconnected my DSL yesterday and forced me to fork over an add'l $60. I'd paid them a little less than 1/2 my bill last week but that wasn't good enough for 'em.
Last week my electricity was shut-off, again after I'd set-up payment arrangements with PNM just two weeks prior...just before I left for Denver. Apparently that department didn't communicate with the disconnect department and I came home from work on the 13th to find my electricity off. Thankfully none of the food in the fridge went bad. I spent 4 hours at the LEAP office getting emergency aid but then I found out yesterday that the amount that was given to the LEAP gal was not the entire amount and I'm still behind to the tune of $110. So tomorrow I'll give a call and see if I can get more assistance.
I'm still wheeling from mom's tirade. Trying so hard to not feel like a loser. Wanting her to love me for who I am but knowing it'll probably never happen.
I did get a good check last week from a band, which has helped out quite a bit. A cousin contacted me about a friend of hers who is looking for a wedding photographer, so I sent off my info & prices to cousin Rebecca and hopefully I'll hear something soon.
The Denver band Landlord Land was in town last month and I took some photos of 'em since I was already there shooting Moray. I gave 'em my biz card and I heard from the drummer last week. Turns out he's the manager for the bar Benders that took over the space that Onyx used to inhabit. They're interested in some of the images for their website and he told me the next time I'm in town to look him up so he can buy me a drink. Dave was telling me that they are actually a pretty big band in Denver, have a lot of fans and such and so for me to have my photos on their site will get me some good publicity.
Been trying to read the Bible that Wendee bought for me. Took me forever just to get thru all the intro pages and the "How to Read the Bible" decipering codes, footnotes, abreviations, etc. Goodness gracious! Wendee and I are hoping to start a blog together, a sort of "The Christian and The Pagan" debate blog. Neither one of us have ever read the Bible thru and thru. It's just that every paragraph I read I end up with more question after question and pretty soon my eyes are droopy and I fall asleep!
Ok, so in the 2nd or 3rd paragraph of Genesis it says something like, God created two lights, the sun and the moon. Why would it be written as "two" lights when if GOD is the one who created the world, earth, universe, etc. he'd know that the moon doesn't actually glow, doesn't have it's own light source? That there's only one light source, the sun? Semantics, you say? Nay, I say, just further proof that humans wrote the bible in their own interpretations based on what they were viewing in ancient times thru pagan beliefs.
*LOL* Alright, I'm getting loopy and should be off to bed with me. Thankfully I've got a short and late work shift tomorrow so I can sleep in a bit.

I think people are getting antsy, cabin-sick now. They're ready for Spring. I don't think ABQ got the frigid temps we had this past week but we're clawing the walls here. Good luck with the photog place - not real fond of the name but hopefully it will work out. As for the "two lights". Really the sun is the only light and the moon reflects that but then again the sun is one of millions of lights and I guess that ventures into science... ;-)
nayyyyy, wouldn't have anything to do with cabin fever since we haven't been below 50 deg. in over a week now. Today is a bit chilly due to a slight breeze but all in all it's been horrifically warm.
